Warmup drawing: Asami Sato from Legend of Korra. She’s probably my favorite character if only because in a lesser show it would be so easy to make her one-dimensional and hateable. Not in this one, though, she’s pretty great with a sharp style to contrast from the other main characters. Although I don’t know why she hasn’t dumped Mako and hooked up with Korra, yet. Maybe that will be in season 2.

Warmup drawing: a Korra-era airbender. I tried to figure out what non-monk airbenders might look like in this time period, and I went with a pilot angle. Also baguazhang is a very pretty martial art.

Warmup drawing today starring some Avatars. I love each and every character design so much, especially Korra’s. It’s nice to see a female protagonist who’s not only great, but actually physically built like someone who’s spent their whole life doing martial arts.
