You’re right! Many Nephilopolis styles are actually a cross between 1930s dress and Star Trek uniforms. The colors of the shoulders are also coded to their type of work. For example Dept. of Congruity is purple, Dept. of Inquisition is green and Dept. of Secrets is blue.
