HI Aaron, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the 'boycott Jack Kirby-derived Marvel products' movement that seems to be making waves around the comics internet. The general notion is that Kirby was screwed over and Marvel goes to the bank on all his creations, so boo on them. As someone who has succeeded artistically (your comic is AMAZING) and financially because of the ability to self-publish online and own your own copyright, I'm curious.

I definitely agree with the sentiments. Kirby and his estate have been mistreated by Marvel for decades and I can understand the desire to look for justice. I’m not so sure about a unilateral boycott, though, since it has the potential to hurt creative workers at Marvel now, who don’t make much to begin with and aren’t responsible for screwing over Jack Kirby in the 60s.
If you don’t go to the Avengers movie, that’s one thing and I’d support it, but with comics, even a small drop in sales can sink an entire series and put struggling artists and writers out of work. Those guys are mostly work-for-hire, just like Jack was, and I’d rather see them pay their bills than possibly lose their jobs for a largely symbolic gesture.
