Have you ever considered applying for a job at an actual comic book publishing company? Do you feel like the publication that would come with a big-name publisher would be worth sacrificing the freedom that comes with doing Dresden Codak by yourself?

There is literally nothing to gain from selling my work to a comic publisher. I would make less money and have less control over my property. Making career decisions based on the perception of prestige alone is a bad idea.
I currently have total freedom to do whatever I want creatively, make a comfortable living and have hundreds of thousands of fans. That’s a good place to be, and giving up any of that just for the *chance* to say “Marvel publishes this” seems pretty silly.
